District Governor RI District 3870

6th Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference

LEARN. GROW. SERVE.

Singapore

In behalf of the Rotaract Club of 3870, I would like to thank our very supportive District Governor Fe “Bing” Juarez, District Governor Nominee Manuel “Maning” Ravanera, District Rotaract Chairman Narcissius “Nharz” Tan and all the Rotarians of District 3870 for supporting when we have represented the District in the 6th Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference held in Sports School, Woodland, Singapore on November 23-26, 2009.

The 6th APRRC was hosted by the District 3310 consists of the Rotaract Clubs of Johore, Malacca, Sabah, Singapore, Sarawak, and Brunei. There were about 500 delegates from over 16 countries in Asian Pacific Region such as Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, China, Lebanon, Australia and as far as Germany and United States of America.

The four days of conference, we have participated various plenary and break out sessions to discuss and grasp new ideas. We had also enough time to mingle with other Rotaractors by exchanging our callcards, souvenirs, and bannerettes. On the second day of the conference, every country was asked to do the country report and I was so fortunate to be given the task to deliver the report pertaining to the activities and development of the Rotaract in the entire Philippine archipelago. I gave my speech before the hundreds of the Rotaractors in behalf of the Filipino delegations.

During the Rotaract leaders meeting, we have discussed the bidding and hosting of the next APRRC. As approved by the council of DRR’s we have granted the hosting of the APRRC to the following countries:

2010 APRRC will be in Sydney, Australia

2011 APRRC will be in Guam, USA

2012 APRRC will be in Bangkok, Thailand

And yours truly was the one who passed the motion to have Rotaract Club of District 3350 of Thailand to be the host of the 2012 APRRC as a prelude of the Rotary International Convention that will also be held in Thailand in the same Rotary Year.

The conference will not be complete without tours to various sights and sounds of the Lion City, showcasing their local foods and cultural as well as historical sites of Singapore.

The conference culminated with signing of Asia Pacific Multi-District Sisterhood Agreement for the purpose of fostering and promoting better and closer friendship and for the mutual growth and development towards the attainment and fulfillment of the Goals of Rotaract.

As the APRRC’s theme says “ LEARN, GROW and SERVE”, we will always remember the big responsibilities given to us by our Rotarians by keeping in mind that “THE FUTURE OF ROTARY IS IN OUR HANDS”.

Thank you so much ROTARY INTERNATIONAL for creating the ROTARACT CLUB!

DRRs-ELECT TRAINING REPORT

29-31 May 2009

Scenic View Resort, San Juan, La Union

“The Future of the Rotaract is in your Hands”.

Three years ago the District Rotaract Committee of the RIDs 3780, 3810 and 3820 conceived the idea of establishing Multi-Districts Information Organization – Pilipinas (MDIO-PILIPINAS), the umbrella organization of Rotaract District Committee in the country, which was recognized by the Board of Directors of the Rotary International since 2007. Later the Districts 3790 and 3830 have joined the MDIO- Pilipinas. Now the rest of the Districts in the Philippines including RID 3870 are in the process of complying the requirements in joining the organization.

Recently, the MDIO-Pilipinas facilitated the DRRs-Elect Training Seminar held at Scenic View Resort, San Juan, La Union. This training was designed to provide incoming DRRs an orientation of our roles and responsibilities as district officers. I was very grateful to the supports or our District Rotaract Chairman PP/DRC Narcissius “Nharz” Tan who was also there to join the session intended for them. The rest of the DRCs were PDRR/DRC Felimon Brazas Jr. of RID 3820, PDRR Andy Abuso of RID 3820, PE/PDRR Paolo Rivera of RID 3810 and DRC Roby Montellano of RID 3780.

First day of activities was started with the talk of DGE Oyan Villanueva of District 3790 and was followed by PP Linda Winter who discussed leadership in different perspective and the Rotary Protocol respectively.

I’m so hopeful that this simple step that we have started will truly address the perennial problems that the Rotaract District Committee had been experiencing for the last three years. During the consultation session with PP/DRR Andy Abuso, I have cited some concerns/ points that will help our District Rotaract Committee.

The following suggestions were raised:

a.       Appointment of other Rotarians to work with District Rotaract Committee as headed by the District Rotaract Chairman.

b.      Having a directory of the Rotary Club Presidents who have existing Rotaract Club/s.

c.       Encouraging other Rotary Clubs to sponsor at least one (1) Community based or University based Rotaract Club, and reactivating the terminated Rotaract clubs.

d.      Asking permission from the DRC and DG for the inclusion of the District 3870 to MDIO-PILIPINAS.

e.      Strengthening the District Rotaract Committee (Rotaractors) as a repository of information such as guidelines, CBL, forms, letters, directories, protocols, programs, citations and linkages or networking.

f.        Conducting the Rotaract DISTAS, PETS and DISCON annually.

g.       Organizing the District Award Committee to review and give recognition to the accomplishment of the different Clubs.

h.      Asking permission from the DRC and the DG for the application of the Rotaract District Committee of 3870 to bid for the hosting of the 5th MDIO-PILIPINAS tentatively scheduled on May 2010.

i.         Participation of the District Rotaract and other Rotaractors to the Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference (APRRC) and the possibility that our District would do the country report in  Singapore on November 22-25, 2009.

I am glad to inform you my dear mentors, DGE Fe “Bing Juarez , DRC Narcissius “Nharz” Tan and all of the Rotarians of the RID 3870 that my District Team are now ready to serve the District and to take up the challenges that the future of the Rotaract is in our hands.
