Re: Result of the selection of District Governor Nominee for RY 2012-13

and related announcements

Please be informed that in the selection process conducted by the District Nominating Committee on September 30, 2009 at Bigby’s, Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro city, PP SAMUEL ‘SAMMY’ C. FONTANILLA of the ROTARY CLUB OF COTABATO CITY SOUTH was selected DISTRICT GOVERNOR NOMINEE for RY 2012-13.

If there are challenges from clubs on behalf of previously selected candidates, please take note of the following procedural requirements:

Pursuant to the provision of challenging candidates (RIB 13.020.8):

…..The challenging candidate must have been duly suggested to the

nominating committee. The name of the challenging candidate shall

be submitted pursuant to a resolution by the club adopted at a regular

meeting. The club must file the resolution with the governor by the

date determined by the governor…”

in this case, October 25, 2009 is the deadline for receipt by my office of challenges.

A club must file a resolution adopted at a regular meeting to concur with a challenge.

In case of a re-nomination for a challenging candidate, the requirement of the concurrence of five clubs shall be conducted by the District and not by the candidate to avoid suspicion of campaigning.

If resolution of challenge are not submitted by clubs by October 25, 2009, then the governor will declare the unchallenged nominee to be the official nominee of the District.

Clubs is the District will be informed on or before November 5, 2009 of challenging candidates.

The deadline of receipt by the governor of club resolutions concurring with a challenge (RIB.13.020.9) will be on November 20, 2009.

Only challenges that have been concurred to by at least five other clubs which have been in existence for at least one year shall be considered valid.

Depending on developments, the District can proceed with balloting, ballot-by-mail, or balloting at the District Conference.

For your guidance and information.
